Costa Rica Tierra de Gato. Medium-dark roast; mild citrus, chocolate; smooth clean finish. This "wild harvest" coffee from Finca Tierra del Gato is a one-of-a-kind special occasion coffee not to be missed. Grown high on the slopes of the Poas volcano in Costa Rica, this farm was the first OCIA certified organic farm in Costa Rica. Though the certification has since lapsed, the farm still produces organically grown old varieties of bourbon and typica. The farm is owned by Jim Stewart, sometimes-Montana resident and specialty coffee pioneer who, along with his brother, founded Seattle's Best Coffee.Production is tiny, with all of our purchase price for the un-roasted beans going to benefit the Vashon Island Coffee Foundation, a charitable organization that Jim Stewart started in the 1980s for the benefit of coffee farmers and their communities.
Emma's House is our local child advocacy center, serving as a primary point of contact and a valuable resource for abused and neglected children. In collaboration with them, we are donating $9 from the sale of each bag of Tierra del Gato toward their operating costs. A special coffee for a special cause. The coffee comes in a dressed up black gift box that contains a 12oz bag of fresh roasted coffee plus an insert that tells the story of this coffee and its benefit to Emma’s House.
This will make a unique and special gift for the holidays. Get your orders in early because we are limited to 100 bags and this one is sure to go fast.
